A Love for Souls (continued-page 3) The Story of Saltan by Gene Easley When I was first called to
the service of God, I remember the great love He put in my heart.
It produced zeal for God and for the souls of men.
Sacrificing meant nothing. Leaving
everything behind meant nothing. I
just wanted to be used by God. But
along the way from our initial call by God to our place of service, we
sometimes find that the trials and tribulations can drain our souls and
leave us without a true passion for souls.
We must have a new impartation of God's divine love. The Apostle Paul said that
the love of Christ compelled him. Paul
found himself driven by a force not seen by the human eye, and it brought
out in his life a willingness to sacrifice rarely seen in the human race. If the souls of men and women are to be won for Christ, someone must love them enough to make the necessary dedication. Jesus told His disciples He would make them to be "fishers of men." We cannot catch people for Christ until His love fills our hearts. The desperate need in the church today is for saints of God to return to the altar until once again God's love for the perishing of this world fills our souls.
